AN UPDATE ON OUR PROGRESS

Hard Work & Determination

I have been hard at work this summer to renovate our existing barn. Though it might not look like much to some, it has been brutal to complete these renovations in this heat and by myself. I have a few friends who will help us rebuild in the fall while I take the rest of the summer to finish the demolition.

The goal will be to start looking for a new equine partner and going through the process of selecting if they would be the right fit for our program. With any new equine partner, it will take time to ensure safety through training.

WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP?

I will never be able to replace Scotty. He was absolutely one-of-a-kind and just absolutely built for this work. Moving forward, a new equine partner will have some big shoes to fill. It has always been my dream to rescue a mustang; to pair the most wild souls and often most abused with people who need help finding safety in their own life. There is something magical that happens when you connect with an animal who has experienced trauma just like we have.

Master's in Social Work

As I complete my Master's in Social Work, this degree has helped expand my clinical knowledge of trauma-informed care and mental health counseling. Through my full-time job doing intensive, in-home family therapy and case management, I have continued to build upon clinical skills, techniques, and strength-based, solution-focused, trauma informed, and person-centered therapy modalities. While licensure will take an additional two years, I look forward to continuing to serve youth, families, and adults in various capacities, which includes getting Healing on Manes back up and running to accept new clients.

I even brought a little bit of Scotty with me to graduation...I braided a part of his tail and hung it with my tassel

Interested in Volunteering?

As I grow in my clinical role, I have realized that running the business is not the part of this that I love; it's being face first with clients and a partner to our equines. I would love to meet with people who might be interested in taking a more active role on our board of directors and taking on more of the business responsibility. Please reach out if you are interested!
